The West Virginia Oil Marketers & Grocers Association (OMEGA), an organization representing convenience stores, independent grocers and petroleum marketers across West Virginia, raised $64,135 for the Children’s Home Society of West Virginia during a September 22 golf event at Stonewall Resort, organization officials announced today.

When coupled with the $79,615 OMEGA members raised for the organization during the “Every Child Deserves a Loving Home” fundraising campaign in May, OMEGA members have contributed $143,750 in 2015 to help the children and families cared for by the Children’s Home Society of West Virginia.

“Our members are very proud to play a small part in helping the Children’s Home Society of West Virginia provide for our most vulnerable population – our children,” said Jan Vineyard, president of OMEGA. “This effort not only gives back to the communities where our members live and work, but it demonstrates the charitable nature of our industry. This is a win for all involved: the children, our members and the public.”

The funds raised by OMEGA will be used to support child assistance programs, such as emergency child shelters, foster care, adoption, mentoring, early intervention and numerous other family support programs throughout the state. More than 13,000 children have been assisted in the past year.

Mary White, chief operations officer for the Children’s Home Society, said, “The West Virginia Oil Marketers & Grocers Association has become paramount to the well-being of West Virginia’s children and families. Their dedication and support enables the Children’s Home Society to find homes for children, support families and change their lives forever.”

Many OMEGA members participated in the golf outing, including ExxonMobil Fuels Marketing, Little General Store, Inc., Marathon Petroleum Company, Par Mar Oil Company, BFS Foods, Inc., Team Sledd, Red Bull Energy Drink, Proud Eagle Inc. and many others.

Since 2013, OMEGA has raised over $2.2 million dollars for charities that improve the health, safety and wellbeing of West Virginia’s children.
