The West Virginia Oil Marketers & Grocers Association, representing convenience stores, independent groceries and petroleum marketers across the state, are working to do their part to recycle and conserve resources. This includes recycling the cardboard and plastic packaging that much of the products you see on your local store shelves are shipped in, to recycling and conserving the water used in the car washes at your local convenience store.
Tuesday, Nov. 15 is America Recycles Day across the country. More than a celebration, America Recycles Day is the only nationally recognized day dedicated to the promotion of recycling in the United States. While we recognize that it takes some effort and dedication, we encourage everyone to explore ways to recycle and conserve resources in their daily lives.
For more information on recycling and conservation strategies, I encourage you to visitwww.americarecyclesday.org. While on the site, consider signing a pledge to learn about recycling opportunities in your community as well as committing to recycling one new type of material.
We can all help create a cleaner environment in our communities and throughout the country.- Details

The banking industry is lobbying Congress to delay retailer's recent victory on debit card swipe fee reform. S. 575 and H.R. 1081 have been introduced to delay swipe fee reform and allow banks to continue to fix prices on debit card swipe fees while hurting merchants and consumers.
Members need to contact Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito, Congressman Nick Rahall, Congressman David McKinley, Senator Jay Rockefeller and Senator Joe Manchin TODAY and ask them to vote no on any type of delay of the debit card swipe fee reform. Ask them to make it easier, not harder, to run a business and be able to offer consumer discounts. Delaying swipe fee reform will make discounting impossible, especially when gasoline is tops $4 per gallon.
